Woman died in house fire in Antigo

According to news reports, an elderly woman has died as a result of a house fire on Arctic Street Thursday. Initial reports indicated that the woman was taken to the hospital, but, she did not survive. Thelma Bula had been overcome by smoke and was unconscious when firemen removed her from the house. A passerby had noticed smoke around 2:00pm on Thursday and called for help. Fire fighters fought the blaze for about 4 hours before getting it under control. The state fire marshal was called and will investigate since a fatality occurred. Funeral services for Mrs. Bula are pending at Bradley Funeral Home.
