Signature Bond for person who shotup drugs into child

According to the court documents, one of the persons who is charged with injecting a 12 year old with morphine is out on a signature bond.

Erikka Vancos of Mattoon, was released from custody on February 18. She is charged with False Imprisonment, Child Abuse and Intentionally Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child.

In an article in the ADJ, it also stated that the child that was abused, has contracted Hepatitis C from the incident.

I find this to completely outrageous that Ms. Vancos was able to gain release with a signature bond. What is the DA and Judge thinking to allow that? This woman helped INJECT a CHILD with morphine!

I would be completely irate if that was my child! What is wrong with these people???

the other girl had like 3.000 bond so why did this one get signature, dont make sense

the DA is only interested in drug bust stats. He is willing to cut anyone a deal as long as they can provide information on other dealers, users and suppliers.

This is actually no different than the police department allowing Pastor Fredrick Edward Fleming to roam around after sexually assaulting a female child from his congregation who was well under the age of 12. He has had an active warrant since Valentines Day, but he is still out and about.

People who hurt children should be drawn and quartered!

I'm surprised that there wasn't a criminal charge directly related to the Hepatitis deal, a MAJOR charge. I feel so bad for that young girl.

This is completely disgusting. I cannot believe that Antigo PD and their judicial system are still so messed up. Who in their right mind would let these women out on signature bonds/couple thousand dollar bonds? Where the hell is the justice? They could have killed this child let alone the child will be seriously ill and have a shorter life expectancy after being subject to this. I think they should be charged with child abuse and attempted murder. If they keep letting people off and out with a slap on the wrist pretty soon all the kids around there will be drug addicts and have Hep C. This town has already been a haven for drugs and crime. When will they ever get it together? I am so glad I no longer live there!

This is a great example of the failure of the war on drugs. If the stuff was not controlled by black marketeers it would be easier to get a handle on and keep away from kids. Billions wasted on the failure war on drugs . The incidence of this is tiny compared to alcohol tobacco sugar and doctor/ pharmaceutical related deaths. It is just a political tool .

she has a learning disability and is the mentality of a 10 year old child. Maybe if you all knew all of the facts of this case you would be looking at it differently, all three of them involved are related and erikka didn't inject her she was just present.

The blame should not be placed the police. They did their job by completing an investigation, compiling a report, and forward the information to the DA, which at that point, the police don't have a say in what happens from there. The judicial system is what is messed up, and its not just in Antigo...its everywhere.

Cops are part of the problem. By their ignorant corrupt sick enforcement of cannabis prohibition laws, they make sure hard drugs can get a hold. Cannabis is very beneficial. We need smarter cops.

Some people are claiming that there is a different story than what the media and court are putting out there. I am curious as to what that story is, don't know how it could make any of it better, but, would still like to hear it.

Has anyone considered that this girl actually agreed to try it but when she found out she was positive for Hep C she needed to cover her own ass and said she was forced??? Regardless, these two never should've been giving a 12 year old drugs and should be punished severely for that, but I am not sure that this was as forced a situation as it's being made out to be... sounds like maybe a kid needed to justify her own actions and "they made me do it" is a common excuse for a 12 year old kid....

Unfortunately the District Attorney and the Judge are more interested in busting as many drug dealers, users and suppliers as possible to pad their re-election campaigns, than protecting people like this little girl.

She didn't ask to be held down and shot up. She didn't ask to be given a disease. She will probably never get over this, and will carry it with her for the rest of her life.

The people who are responsible for this should not get the opportunity to cut a deal, which is exactly what is happening. They are providing the police with information on other people in the area. They will no doubt be wearing wires and making planned purchases for the police department, so that they can recieve a lesser punishment for their crime against this little girl.

These people should get the maximum punishment with no deal consideration. One can only hope that their fellow prison inmates will get word of what they did and provide just punishment.

To A Mom: If you have seen Edward Fleming out and about, please call the police and tell them where the next time. There is an active warrant for him, he was the warrant of the week, and I assure you the police will be all over it. Seriously! Wow!
