The Antigo school board will discuss how to fill the vacancy caused by the recent death of Miles Stanke when it meets Tuesday.
The board will convene at 7 p.m. in the Middle School library and work its way through a very full agenda, which also includes decisions on substantial staff reductions at the elementary school level.
Stanke, a retired educator and former city of Antigo mayor, was in the midst of his first term on the school board when he died on Feb. 13.

I'm not sure if there is a rule stating an active school teacher is prohibited from serving on the school board but obviously nothing from preventing a retired teacher from serving on the board. I believe it is a conflict of interest to have a teacher and/or retired teacher serving on the school board.
