Allergen left off label leads to liver pate recall

A labeling mistake led to the recall of about 4,500 pounds of liver pate products made by Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats, a national retailer based in Wittenberg. The recall, announced Saturday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, was issued because the product contains the milk protein sodium caseinate, an allergen, but the label fails to mention this ingredient.
