Antigo Community Theatre will present its spring play, “Ten Feet From the Source of the Heat,’’ opening Thursday, April 16 and running through Sunday, April 19.
ACT has teamed up with local author Bridget Strasser to debut her delightful, original, murder mystery. The play is under the direction of veteran ACT member, Darlaen Jansen.
The story takes place in the upper Midwest during the notorious 1930s. Tissue Paper heiress Ann Lane is determined in spite of her family’s wealth to venture out on her own. While Ann rents a home from friendly widow Estelle Dooley, she meets a variety of local neighbors. She is barely settled into her new home when a horrible murder takes place and the quiet neighborhood is thrown into chaos. Detective Stewart is called in on the case, but has his work cut out for him as a couple of notorious gangsters have also arrived in town. Ann’s spoiled little sister, Miranda, shows up unannounced to add to the confusion. This rollicking “who done it?’’ is guaranteed to entertain all.
