In his state of the state address at the capitol building earlier this week, Governor Scott Walker said he was interested into putting more funding towards transportation for rural school districts. This was one of many ideas that came from the Rural Schools Task Force which was formed last year. White Lake and Elcho district administrator Bill Fisher says he hasnt seen any specifics of Walkers plan but said it would certainly help. Fisher had a meeting with State Senator Tom Tiffany of Hazlehurst two weeks ago, where he expressed the c hallenges both of his schools face. White Lake will be trying for a 3rd time to pass an operating referendum, asking the public to exceed their revenue limit by $250,000 a year for 5 years.
