The Antigo school board Tuesday began wrestling with a projected $1 million budget deficit for 2015-16 school year, and options appear limited.
At its regular monthly meeting, the board heard from District Administrator Don Childs and Director of Business Services Mary Jo Filbrandt, seeking direction on where to begin trimming next year’s spending package.
“We are staring down the barrel of a sizable deficit,” Childs said, noting that past years of budget cuts “have literally taken anything out of the budget that could be considered fat. You are now looking at cutting muscle and bone.”
