According to news reports, the heavy presence of law enforcement officers yesterday in the Antigo area was not drug related.
Social media was bubbling with gossip and questions, but, the paper reports that it was a statewide program which did not even include the local police or sheriff's department.
Wisconsin State Patrol was issuing tickets and giving out warnings.
Sheriff Greening is quoted as saying he was not pleased.
UPDATE: See the following post : Sheriff Greening outright lying in ADJ?

was a state wide drug cleanse why else would you need dogs for traffic warnings? they also pulled guns on a car load of teens for a petty ticket. overkill and crooked cops.

An outside agency is currently lodged in town for a week. So I say as usual the police are lying.

The war on drugs is a joke. Why are so many violent criminals walking free?

Surprised Greening would make a stupid statement like that when there were city, county, and state police pulling people over that evening. In fact the safety building parking lot was empty of sqauds that evening. Several others have told me they seen the same thing. Including several, not one but several k-9 units. Maybe they were using them to sniff out speeders. ;) So not sure what planet the Sheriff is on. Looks like lying begins at the top?

When our tax dollars go for antidote sniffing dogs, we are in a sad state. The antidote can create health and happiness wisdom. Misery sickness and ignorance,is where the profit is though. Sad fact of human range of behavior and intelligence.

I don't buy it either, I saw several stops on my way out of town and all the stops were dark blue or black vehicles. I even told a friend that he shouldn't go out because his vehicle fit profile of stops I saw. Others I talked to saw black/dark blue vehicles pulled over several times. I just figured they had a tip on some big drug shipment or something. BTW the person I told to stay home, they went out and they WERE stopped and had a second car come along with k9 unit. They don't do anything so didn't have to worry but just thought was odd.
