The poor weather is to blame for three accidents that took place on Tuesday afternoon. At 4:14 PM, multiple calls reported a semi had jack-knifed on Highway 64 near 5th Avenue West. The driver was westbound on 64 when he tried to negotiate a curve and lost control. The cab of the vehicle ended up in the north ditch and the trailer blocked most of the roadway. There was moderate damage. Officials believe the man was traveling too fast for conditions.
20 minutes later, a woman called 911, saying that a person had rolled over into a field on 64 near County Road HH. The woman's son had helped the driver out. He was injured and was standing when sheriff's deputies arrived.
A law enforcement officer witnessed another car in the ditch on Highway 64 near the airport around 5:30pm.
