Those turned away at last week's state Senate hearing on the right-to-work bill were among the first to testify today, when an Assembly panel started hearing testimony. The Assembly Labor Committee planned a 10-hour hearing on the measure. The initial speakers were about evenly split. The Wisconsin Senate approved the right-to-work bill last week. It prohibits companies from having agreements in their new contracts to force workers to join unions or pay union dues. Supporters say it would give workers more freedom within their workplaces. Opponents say it would reduce union influence, and cut pay-and-benefits. This morning, G-O-P Assembly Speaker Robin Vos told Milwaukee's W-I-S-N Radio that he expects a final vote on the right-to-work on Thursday night or Friday.
