Despite a foggy start and unseasonably warm weather conditions, Langlade County hunters registered 1,416 deer—15 percent more than last year—over the opening weekend of the gun deer season.
Department of Natural Resources wildlife technician Eric Borchert said that 813 bucks were registered, a 2 percent decline from 2011, but 603 does were harvested, up 50 percent.
