New role for local Guard unit, program Saturday

The Antigo National Guard unit, which has sent soldiers on deployment to Iraq several times in the past decade, will be reflagged as a new forward support company in ceremonies on Saturday.

The newly named E Company 132nd Brigade Support Batalion will be unveiled in ceremonies at 4:30 p.m. at the armory on Amron Avenue.

“The ceremony will welcome and signify the unit’s start at the armory,” 1st. Lt. Calvin J. Hettmer said. “It is open to members of community organizations as well as the general public.”
