Lac du Flambeau state of emergency for bath salts, other drugs

News reports say that the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Native Americans has now declared a state of emergency for the illegal drug use problems, including bath salts. Tribal officials say that the drugs are becoming a problem and they intend to quickly prosecute those who use and sell the illegal substances, and offer extensive rehabilitation services. Bath salts are reported to give similar highs as cocaine, methamphetamine and other stimulant type illegal drugs. The chemicals that are used in bath salts have been shown to create violent or bizarre behavior, especially after extended use.
