Keep bird feeders full, cold is taking a big toll

The brutally cold weather of the past several days, plus predictions for more, have left some of the northwoods smallest residents in rather dire straits. According to Marge Gibson, executive director of the Antigo-based Raptor Education Group Inc., the cold conditions have been causing problems for birds such as pine siskins and red-polls, which weight only eight to 16 grams and spend their summers in the very far northern regions.
