Jury trial underway in Michael Poch sex assault case

According to news and court records, the jury trial for a sexual assault case against former Antigo resident, Michael Poch, got underway today in Langlade County court. The young girl testified against Poch, whom she is accusing raped her in 2010. She told the Jurors that she was watching television in her room when Poch came in and pinned her to the bed and took off her clothing and his own. She said she screamed for him to leave but he responded "scream all you want but no one will hear". She stated that Poch threatened her and said he would harm her mother if she told anyone. Her mother later learned of the assault from a letter that the child wrote in a notebook. Defense counsel Shawn Paul is attempting to discredit the girl's credibility. Poch had been extradited from Oil City, Pennsylvania after the warrant was issued here for his arrest. Michael J. Poch is charged with first degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 12 and intimidation of a victim, both of which are felonies.
