With emerald ash borer nearby, concern growing among local forest advocates

The emerald ash borer is creeping closer to Langlade County, and local officials are taking a proactive approach.

The insect, which destroys an ash tree’s ability to take up nutrients and water, was recently discovered in Rhinelander in neighboring Oneida County, an unwelcome intruder into the northwoods ecosystem.
