The city of Antigo is hoping to breath renewed life into a downtown entertainment venue with a storied past.
The city is requesting proposals for the lease and/or purchase of the Edison Club Event Center, which over the years has hosted everything from big-name country, rock and roll and comedy acts to regional artists, fund-raising balls and too many wedding receptions to count.
The city owns the facility, and after the club’s long-term operator declared bankruptcy earlier this year, entered into a month-by month lease with the present tenants, allowing already scheduled events to continue without interruption. The city also purchased the club’s restaurant equipment, assuring that whomever takes it over will find a totally-equipped facility.
