City, contractors get serious with street improvement projects

City of Antigo motorists can expect some increased congestion along Superior Street next week, but the goal is to have the roadway clear by the Memorial Day weekend.

According to Charlie Brinkmeier, project engineer, the two southbound lanes of Superior Street will be shut down beginning May 18, with traffic reroutes into one of the two northbound lanes to allow for utility connections as part of a summer construction project.

“People should be aware that there will be congestion in this area,” Brinkmeier said. “We’re hoping to get it all buttoned up before Memorial Day.”
