Chili fragrance great, parade gets underway at 6:30 p.m. today

A festive Fifth Avenue was filled with the sights and sounds of the 15th annual chili cook-off today, a community tradition that will help draw hundreds, and maybe even a thousand or two, people into the downtown this afternoon and tonight. By lunchtime, chefs for 45 different entries were preparing roasters full of roughneck or traditional chili, filled with spices, meat peppers, tomatoes and, in some cases beans and pasta. While the cooks were stirring their concoctions, decorators were stringing lights and decorating everything from cacti to Christmas tree for the booth contest. Full Story: Antigo Daily Journal
