Antigo weekend incidents include OWIs, pot, child neglect

Among the weekend's criminal activities around Antigo, a couple were cited for disorderly conduct for an argument that was fueled by alcohol. The couple had an altercation at the First Avenue home. A 42 year old man and a 32 year old woman were taken into custody for child neglect for leaving 2 kids home alone. The children are ages 6 and 7, and were left for several hours. They were placed with family members with the assistance of Social Services. (court records indicate these individuals to be Michelle Steffers and William Moffat) A 22 year old Antigo man was pulled over by police around 1:00am Sunday near Sixth Avenue and Dorr Street. In addition to OWI, he will be charged with possession of marijuana, as about 23 grams of pot and 4 pot pipes were found in his vehicle. (court records indicate that this may be Jacob McGhee). A 23 year old passenger was taken into custody for drinking, as his probation does not allow that. He had attempted to hide a bottle of beer, which is how the pot was found in the car. A pair of motorcyclists were charged with OWIs on Saturday. They were initially stopped for speeding by the Antigo police. Neither could pass field sobriety tests. One man is 34 years old and the other 35. This was a first offense for one of the men and a fourth offense for the other. (court records indicate one of the men to be Josh Griffin, the other is possibly Jarrod Kautza) A few other incidents reported were criminal damage to bench and a fire in the bathrooms at Jack Lake campground. A man from Pearson attempted to elude officers around 1:00am on Sunday near Stevens Spring Road in the town of Ainsworth. He has a revoked license. To avoid being caught he turned onto a snowmobile trail but his truck ended up getting stuck in a mud hole. A delusional and uncooperative person was taken to a mental health care facility after a domestic dispute in the town of Summit.
