Antigo news - Drunk Driving, child porn, pot plants found

According to news reports and court records, there was plenty of activity by law enforcement and the court system recently. A 56 year old Antigo man was arrested for possession of child pornography. He was picked up on Thursday after an investigation by Antigo Police, Langlade County Sheriff Department and Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. He is accussed of downloading video images on his computer. John Waubanascum of Bowler, age 40, received a nine month jail sentence for his fifth offense of operating while intoxicated. His drivers license was revoked for 3 years, he received a fine of $2,944, he must also install an interlock ignition device in his vehicle for one year. He was also fined $379 for a charge of driving while revoked. He was initally stopped for speeding. Laura Kelly of Pit Road, age 27, entered a plea of not guilty for charges of child neglect, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Melanie Thompson of Highway G, age 20, pleaded guilty and received a sentence of one year of probation for passing worthless checks. She is also ordered to pay $889.78 in restitution. A 30 year old Antigo man is expected to be charged after law enforcement found marijuana plants in his home while there on a call for a possible drug overdose on prescription meds. The plants were inside a bedroom closet. He was taken to Langlade Hospital for treatment. A 13 year old may be facing charges after a fight between him and another boy. The injured boy was taken to the hospital with possible broken ribs. A 24 year old man is expected to be charged for his six offense of driving with a revoked license. A 21 year old received a ticket for open intoxicants after he had received multiple warnings previously. A 21 year old Antigo man was ticketed for disorderly conduct after an argument with a woman outside of a residence. A man from Minnesota was arrested for a Marathon county warrant after being stopped for a traffic offense on Highway 64. He had an outstanding fine for possession of drug paraphernalia.
