$10,000 cash bond for bad check on auto purchase

A Rhinelander man is in custody after passing bad checks at an Antigo business for purchase of a vehicle. Frank B. Morrissey, age 22, received a $10,000 cash bond in Langlade County Court Monday. He is accused of writing bad checks to Antigo Auto Sales in March. He has similar cases open in Oneida County. He is charged with 2 counts of forgery as a repeater, which are felonies. According to news reports, his girlfriend bought a vehicle from Antigo Auto Sales. During the process, she was told that she would need a co-signer but instead, Morissey wrote a check for the vehicle for $9,317.95, which was later returned for lack of funds. Once informed, Morrissey provided a check from a different financial institution, which was also returned for non-sufficient funds. He then provided a false bank note. The girlfriend thought everything was in order and then found out that Morrissey had been charged in Oneida County with crimes relating to bad checks. The vehicle was returned to Antigo Auto in April. Over 6,000 miles were put on the vehicle during the month and half that the woman had it.
