Recent Antigo court and criminal activity

A few court cases were resolved in Langlade County and a few new cases will surely be in court soon, including theft charges from a re-offender. Samuel Zaverousky of Highway 64, age 61, received a sentence of 75 days in jail for multiple charges. He pleaded guilty to second offense of operating while intoxicated, for that offense he received 45 days jail. He also pleaded guilty to violating conditions of his bail. He received 30 days jail time for that offense. He was fined $1345 along with $100 plus costs. His drivers license was revoked for 14 months. Cedar M. Kennedy of Gowan Road, 29, pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to attach an ear tag to a deer carcass. He was fined and assessed costs, which total $2268. His DNR privileges were revoked for three years, which includes hunting, trapping and fishing. A woman from Wausau was arrested here for allegedly shoplifting items from some local area businesses. The thefts occurred shortly after she had made an appearance in court here for criminal charges. Some of the stolen items were small electronic type toys and jewelry. She had left a bag in the bathroom of Family Video, where officers found the items inside. (court records indicate this to be Melissa Merchant). A Crandon woman, Jennifer Kegley, age 34, was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail for obtaining a prescription by fraudulent means. She had been employed at a Doctor's office and was using that position to call in prescriptions to pharmacies. She stated that she would pick up the prescriptions for herself because she has a drug problem and is addicted. She was also placed on probation for 3 years and must pay restitution in the amount of $203.79. She must go through alcohol and drug assessment and follow through.
