Former Antigo man gets prison time for bath salts

A Birnamwood man, formerly of Antigo, was sentenced to three years prison for drug charges including bath salts.

The Shawano Leader reported that Jessie L. Bierman, 30, received the sentence in Shawano County court on Friday. He was convicted of manufacturing or delivering amphetamine, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of amphetamine, distributing a hazardous substance (bath salts) and manufacturing or delivering marijuana.

This is the first bath salts case that Shawano County has dealt with.

Police were notified that a package was received at Bierman's post office box which came from a company known to sell bath salts. Bierman was arrested when he went to the post office to pick up the package. A search warrant was obtained and drugs were found at his home.

Bierman's 8 year old son lived at the residence with him during the drug trafficking.

His defense counsel argued that he suffers from post traumatic stress disorder, having served in Iraq.
