Ex-Veterinarian receives jail time for stealing meds

Benjamin Blandin of Franklin, has been sentenced for his crimes in stealing medications from Antigo Veterinarian Clinic.

The former veterinarian has been sentenced to 45 days in jail and two years probation for stealing medications for animals and watering down the remaining drugs.

Blandin has pleaded guilty to one count of possession of narcotic drugs, possession of a controlled substance, intentionally mistreating animals and theft. A second count of possession of narcotic drugs was dismissed.

He received a three year deferred judgment for possessing narcotic drugs. The two year probation term runs concurrent on three of the charges, possessing a controlled substance, theft and intentionally mistreating animals. The Judge ordered the 45 day jail term on the charge of intentionally mistreating animals.

He has already paid restitution to the Antigo Veterinary Clinic and further restitution may be ordered. As a condition of his probation, he must also attend alcohol or drug assessment with follow through.
