Despite local races, voting here quiet

A spring election topped by a rare race for Langlade County Circuit Court judge is sparking voting across Langlade County today.

Langlade County District Attorney Ralph Uttke and John Rhode, who has practiced law locally for 20 years, are vying for the position left vacant by the retirement of Judge Fred Kawalski last fall. It is the only countywide race on the ballot.

School district races are also sparking the ballot. In White Lake, voters will decide the fate of a referendum seeking $300,000 annually for five years to maintain existing programs. It is the third try for the spending cap override, which failed with voters in April and November of 2014.
